Meals
Fresh coffee and tea are available daily in the dining room in our ‘Coffee Center’.
All our meals are served buffet style in the dining hall and are tastefully prepared by our experienced kitchen staff. Guests are free to enjoy their meals in the comforts of the screened dining area or in the open-air palapa. A different dish is prepared daily and will give your palate a treat of traditional Belizean dishes and North American cuisine, which we are certain, you will appreciate and enjoy! All meals are served with fresh juices.
Meals are served as follows and all guests are invited to be on time for:
- Breakfast 7:30 am
- Lunch 12:00 pm
- Dinner 6:00 pm winter 6:30 pm summer
If you have any serious food allergy, please let us know on your arrival at the station. Vegetarians are accommodated in that all meats are always separate and we serve a variety of vegetables and fruits with the main meal. Other requests can also be accommodated so please advise us in advance or on arrival.
Gift Shop
The gift shop is located adjacent to the main dining area. Our gift shop features Belizean products and Programme for Belize items. Local artisans and craft people produce some of the souvenirs that are on sale. Your purchase of these items not only helps to support the management of the RBCMA but also provides much needed income for rural families and communities.
Whenever you are free and would like to look at our products, please ask your naturalist guide or station manager. Our gift shop has a small variety of snack items for your added comfort as well as personal care items which you may have forgotten to pack in your luggage or need to replace. Also available are bird, mammal, and medicinal plant references and bookmarks for your added reading pleasure. In addition to cash purchases, we accept Visa, American Express, MasterCard and Discover cards at the field station!
Meals/Drinks
The modest Chigger’s Bar venue, located under the palapa, offers a choice of different beverages (local beers or soda) that can be purchased separately on request for your added comfort.
We also offer white and red wines for purchase with dinner only by glass or bottle. Please check with the Manager for current prices for each and he will be happy to assist you in this request.
National law prevents us from serving any type of alcohol to anyone under the age of 18 years. Additionally, we observe the locals laws of your country as it relates to underage drinking, so we will not serve persons who are not of legal age. Please check with any staff member for assistance.
Education Center/Library
A small reference library is available in the back room of the Education Center. You are allowed to take any reading material to your cabaña but we ask that you return it before you depart. You are most welcome to donate books, magazines, etc. for others to use and read.
